24/7 Post-Stabilization Phone Line for Post-Stabilization Admission Authorization Requests
Medi-Cal Managed Care has created a dedicated phone line for acute care hospitals to use for post-stabilization admission authorization requests.
The phone line (844-776-9504) is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This 24/7 phone line should only be used for initial authorization requests for post-stabilization admissions to acute hospitals for Medi-Cal Managed Care members. Hospitals are not required to use this phone line for post-stabilization admission authorization requests. Authorization requests may also be submitted via fax (866-333-4826) or via Availity Essentials
For hospitals that operate under a capitated arrangement with an IPA to care for Medi-Cal Managed Care members, the staff answering the phone will route callers to the IPA for post-stabilization admission authorization. Capitated hospitals may bypass the 24/7 post-stabilization line and continue contacting the IPA directly for authorization.
